Stucco questions, answered

Straight answers to what Brevard County homeowners ask us most. Don’t see yours? Call Tony at (321) 750-5505.

Why is my stucco cracking?

Some cracking is normal. Houses settle and Florida heat and humidity move the walls, so hairline cracks show up over the years — usually cosmetic. The ones to worry about are wide cracks, diagonal cracks across a corner, or a crack paired with a bulge. Those mean water got behind the stucco. We'll come look and tell you which kind you have.

Is it common to have cracks in stucco?

Yes, very common. Almost every stucco house in Brevard picks up a few hairline cracks as it ages. Common doesn't mean ignore them, though. A hairline crack still lets water in, and a Florida rainy season is long. Sealing the small ones early is what keeps them from becoming a real repair.

How long will stucco last on a house?

Installed right and kept sealed, stucco lasts 50 years or more. Florida is harder on it than most places — sun, salt air, and rain driven sideways at a wall. What actually shortens it is water: an open crack, a bad flashing detail, or a sprinkler soaking the same spot every morning.

Can my stucco be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Most walls get repaired, not replaced. We cut out the failed section, fix what's behind it, and re-coat to match the rest. Replacement is for walls where the damage runs the whole elevation, or where what's under the stucco has gone too. Tony will tell you which one you've got — including when it's the smaller job.

Can a handyman do stucco repair?

Sometimes, on a small crack. Whether the patch holds, and whether you can see it from the driveway, is the other question. Stucco gets mixed, put on in coats, and cured, and matching an existing finish takes practice. And if water is getting in behind the wall, a patch on top hides the problem instead of fixing it.

Is stucco failure covered by insurance?

It depends on what caused it. Sudden storm damage is the kind of thing a policy is written for. Slow cracking and water working in over the years usually gets called wear and tear, and that's normally excluded. Wind-driven rain often gets argued over.

Read your policy and call your carrier — we're not insurance people, and we won't tell you what your claim is worth. Either way the wall still needs fixing. Our estimate is free and it's yours to keep.

How much does stucco repair cost?

We don't post prices, because stucco repair isn't a catalog item. The number comes from how much wall is involved, what's behind it, and whether the finish has to be matched. You can get a ballpark in about a minute — upload photos on the estimate form. Tony's in-person estimate is free either way.

How much does it cost to stucco a house in Florida?

A whole house is priced per house, not off a chart. What moves the number: the size of the place, one story or two, how much of the old finish has to come off, which finish you want, and how much prep the walls need. Send photos for a ballpark, then Tony comes out and writes up the real number. That visit is free.

What companies do stucco repair in Palm Bay, Florida?

We're one of them. Space Coast Stucco is based in Melbourne and covers Palm Bay — there's a Palm Bay repair in our gallery, before and after. We work the rest of Brevard too, from West Melbourne and the beachside towns up through Cocoa and Titusville. Call Tony at (321) 750-5505.

Do I have to repaint after a stucco repair?

Usually yes, at least the wall we worked on. Even a perfect finish match has a slightly different sheen until paint evens it out. On a small repair, painters often touch in just the affected wall. On a bigger job we'll tell you up front whether you should plan to paint the elevation or the whole house.

How long does a stucco repair take?

Most repairs are a one- or two-day job — one day to cut out and patch, sometimes a return visit to finish-coat once it's cured. Whole-house re-finishes run longer, usually several days depending on size and weather. Florida rain can push the schedule. We'll give you a real timeline when we write the estimate.

Can you match a finish another contractor said couldn't be matched?

Often, yes. Finish matching is what we're known for, and we've fixed plenty of patches where the previous crew gave up. Knockdown, lace, sand, smooth, dash — the trick is time on the trowel and getting the mix right. Send a photo or have us come out and we'll tell you straight whether we can blend it.

Is the free estimate really free? What's involved?

Yes, the estimate is free, and there's no obligation. Tony comes out, walks around the house with you, looks at the stucco, asks what you're hoping for, and writes up what the work would cost. It usually takes about twenty minutes. You don't pay anything unless you decide to hire us.

How does the instant estimate work? Is it accurate?

When you submit the form with photos, our AI looks at your photos and the description you wrote, and gives you a ballpark price range — usually in under a minute. It's based on the kind of damage, the rough size of the area, and what we typically see on Brevard County homes.

It's a ballpark, not a quote. The real number comes from Tony walking your house in person. That visit is free, and the in-person estimate is usually within (and often below) the AI's range — but sometimes a problem turns out to be bigger or smaller than it looks in a photo. We'll always tell you straight what we find.

Want a tighter ballpark? Upload close-ups of the worst spot, a few feet back to show the wall, and one of the whole side of the house if you can.

Still have a question?

The fastest answer is a phone call. Tony will tell you straight whether it’s something to worry about.
